I took my Rumpl blanket on a backpacking trip (instead of my sleeping bag) where the overnight temperatures were 10-13°C. I was wearing wool leggings, wool socks, wool shirt, and down jacket. I had a lightweight sleeping bag liner that I put inside my Rumpl blanket. It was nowhere near warm enough for sleep. I shivered all night, even after putting rain pants on over my wool leggings.
It did great as a beach blanket on the slightly rocky beaches though, providing padding between me and the rocks, and covering my legs to keep them warm as the sun set.
I followed the washing instructions and put it in my dryer on air dry. The zipper pull on the pocket came off.
Appreciate the real-world review. You nailed the use case: this one is built for camp chairs, tailgates, and the beach, with weather resistance for the outdoor part. Sleeping bags are a different tool with temperature ratings and different features for a reason. The Backcountry Puffy is a great addition to your backcountry (or frontcountry) sleep system but not recommended as a full sleeping bag replacement!
I am in love with this blanket.It travels with me everywhere from the den while I watch t v to my bed at night and then into the car for a road trip. I love the colors, and how easily it stuffs into its sack. I am glad I chose a backcountry blanket for the extra warmth.
